About Us

We are a growing multigenerational church dedicated to living the way Jesus lived. We are passionate about furthering God's Kingdom on earth, beginning with the people we live next to, work with, and encounter in our daily lives.

Who We Are

We are apprentices of Jesus, bringing God's Kingdom to our community.

We gather on Sundays to worship. Throughout the week, we meet in spiritual formation groups to grow together in the way of Jesus. As we become better apprentices of Him, we are transformed and God brings transformation to the lives of others through us. Our desire is to join God in restoring what’s broken in the world. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we’d love to walk with you!

Scripture
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. We believe it was written by men, divinely inspired, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
The Trinity
We believe in one God. God, the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in all wisdom, measureless in power. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, miraculous in His birth, sinless in life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death. We believe in His bodily resurrection, and in His personal visible return to the world according to His promises. We believe in the Holy Spirit who came to convict the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment and to regenerate, sanctify and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Mankind
We believe that all men, by nature and by choice, are sinners. But we also believe John 3:16 (KJV) that says, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
The Church
We believe the Church is a living spiritual body of which all regenerated people are members. We believe a visible Church is a company of believers in Christ, baptized in the way He commanded on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship and for spreading the Gospel.

What We Believe

Our beliefs inform and shape our core purpose as a church - to be apprentices of Jesus bringing God's Kingdom to our community. These beliefs guide our worship, our relationships, and our hope for the world.

Our Story

Vintage scan of the backyard patio where NABC first began

1953-1979

NABC began in 1953 when Stella and Tony Stock gathered a few families and began working toward establishing the first Southern Baptist church in Johnson County. Out of living room and patio gatherings, Nall Avenue Baptist was born. The early decades focused on establishing the church home at 67th and Nall.  Building facilities and growing a congregation rooted in prayer, mission work, and community outreach was the priority.

1980-2004

Through the 1980s and 1990s, NABC grew steadily, expanding ministries for children, youth, and adults while strengthening its missions focus both locally and abroad. This period also brought facility improvements, intentional discipleship programs, and deeper involvement in the community. By the church’s 50th anniversary in 2003, NABC was a well-established hub for fellowship, teaching, and community service.

2005-Today

The last two decades have been marked by both challenges and renewal as NABC has navigated cultural shifts, leadership transitions, and the realities of ministering in a post-Christian world. A renewed focus on prayer, discipleship, and fellowship has become central to NABC's identity. Celebrating 70 years in 2023, NABC continues to look forward, committed to being a praying, serving, and Christ-centered church in Prairie Village for generations to come.

Our Values

Fellowship with God and One Another

We fellowship with one another through Sunday worship and living in community.
We fellowship with God by practicing the spiritual disciplines.

Serve as Jesus Served

We use our time, our talents, and our training to serve one another, our communities, and our church as Jesus taught us.

Give Generously, Just as We have Received

We give back to God the time, talent, and financial resources He has given to us.

Invite Others into Apprenticeship

We bring Jesus into our circles of influence and invite others into the life of apprenticeship.
